So the other day, I was listening to the radio on iTunes, and after hearing a song by Emmy Rossum, decided to look her up on Wikipedia to find out who she was. Turns out she's going to be Bulma in the upcoming Dragonball movie.

Now about this Dragonball movie. In my experience, making a live action anything based on anime is a genuinely BAD idea. I do intend to see it, of course, but I don't think the excellent acting and well developed plot will be my main source of entertainment. For our amusement, here's the main cast:

So I've been watching cosplay skits again, and I noticed the entire 2007 Comic Con Masquerade was up. Check it out.

The ones I think are worth checking out are #s:
14- The only use of the song 'SexyBack' I have ever and probably will ever approve of.
17- The audience hit of the night. They were chanting it for the rest of the masquerade.
21- This should happen in the real show. Then maybe people would shut up about it.
24- I think it was better live, but it's still a hit.
30- It's been done it earlier cons, but it's always funny.
37- What can I say? I like cross dressers.
50- The Sandman is an awesome comic. Therefore, any skit of it must be cool as well.

Why I Didn't Go To Swimming Yesterday

Short version: I was completely dehydrated.

Cool version: I always wake up thirsty. But yesterday morning the air conditioner was broken on my side of the house, so I woke up covered in sweat and massively dehydrated. I got up and put on my swim suit, but then I had to run to the kitchen to get a drink because I felt awful. As I was pouring myself some milk, my mom asked me a question. While trying to answer, I started losing my vision and felt dizzy, lightheaded, and nauseated (like I was going to vomit). So I started hyperventilating. My mom, realizing what was happening, told me to lie down, so I sprinted back to my room since I knew I was going down any second. My mom then brought me some Gatorade and made sure my legs were elevated to increase blood flow to my head. I completely lost my ability to control body heat, so (although we didn't check it) my temperature was probably over 100. My hands felt all tingly and I didn't regain feeling in them for several minutes when they started and continued to hurt for quite some time. I kept drinking fluids, and about two hours later I was ok.

What would have happened if I hadn't gone back to bed: I would have vomited, fainted, and gotten heat stroke. I think that's a good reason to skip swimming.

Thankfully, the air conditioner works now.

Walking on Volcanoes

I've realized that, in my head, summer break doesn't start until morning swim practice does. The days I didn't have to go to school during semester test week were a sort of limbo.
Swimming- last week, the new heater wasn't hooked up and the water was way too cold. I believe the coldest day was at 68 degrees. There were actually a couple people who had to get out of the pool in fear of hypothermia. I actually felt fine after about a 3-400, but it was pretty ridiculous to be swimming in that water.
This week has been worse. Today the water was 90 degrees. It was like trying to exercise in a freaking hot tub! We did some stuff in the deep end which I was very grateful for. While kicking and keeping our hands up, Moose said, "Who feels like they're getting heat stroke? Raise your hand." Of course, we already had our arms up. It was amusing. So everyone kept complaining about the heat, and Jared was getting annoyed with us because of it. He said something like, "I'm a drill sergeant; I have zero tolerance for complaints." And I just had to reply, "Don't you think its a bit hypocritical that you keep complaining about us complaining though?" PWNED! David, Moose, and Thomas all congratulated me for that comment. Jared's normally a cool guy, but he really deserved to knocked down a notch. Back to the temperature problem. It's just our luck that it's completely overcast, chilly, and rainy when the water is freezing, and there's not a cloud in the sky when it's boiling. Bleh. Anyway, I <3 morning practice. It's so much better than swimming during the school year.

My aunt is in the hospital again for about the 50th time since October. I wish she wasn't suffering so much. Why is it that my grandparents and my parents are the only ones helping her? My mom has absolutely no time anymore what with caring for Aunt Elizabeth and trying to keep up at work with the new electronic medical records system. I'm glad I can help her out by scanning charts at work.
There are lots of other bad things going on that I'm at the liberty to talk about. Let's just say being an Archer isn't so great right now.

I have a "nodule" in my earlobe that needs to be cut out. It'll need stitches. Oh boy.

Somehow I ended up on the freaking obligation list for school. I gave my history book to Mr.Clifford, and HE LOST IT. He said he was locking them up, and now I get a note saying mine's not there! What the hell!?

Here's some good news: I'm getting a new bed. Yay!

This morning, as I was eating breakfast, I glanced at the local newspaper. There was some article about farmers distraught over what the rain has done to their crops. Ah, RAIN. I love it. Rain at this time of year is key. The more rain we get, the greater our chances of getting to do FIREWORKS. Independence Day is one of the greatest holidays of the year because of FIREWORKS. Now I'm all EXCITED about blowing up FIREWORKS. But I still have to wait an entire month. Gah!

I'm also very EXCITED about COMIC CON. It's going to be AWESOME. I plan to watch some anime, go see some indie films, buy stuff, go to panels, and...THE MASQUERADE. I can't wait. Three special guests I'm most excited about seeing: Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, and Alison Bechdel.

I was actually thinking about Sandman (Neil Gaiman's comic) earlier today while listening to the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack. I associate that music with the comic. It's all good.

The paperback of Fun Home by Alison Bechdel supposedly came out today. (haha. I made a joke.) According to Wikipedia: "Fun Home has been listed by several publications as one of the best books of 2006. The New York Times included it in their list of "100 Notable Books of the Year". I recently started subscribing to a podcast called The Best of YouTube. Today, I watched THIS video and was amazed.
Beatboxing with a flute!? Greg Pattillo is an extremely talented man. Of course, after that I just had to watch more. From there I found him doing Sesame Street and Super Mario Bros.
But then there was PETER AND THE WOLF. <3
Oh man. I love Peter and the Wolf. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, HERE'S a version on YouTube.
When I was little I watched the Disney version of Peter and the Wolf all the time. I would not be surprised if I've seen it upward of 100 times. That video is love. It is my opinion that if you have not seen the Disney version of Peter and the Wolf, you have not lived. Watch it. Now.

Yeah. Like those before me, I made a point not to repeat any bands. It's intriguing, and I agree with a lot of what is discussed. I, personally, have felt the effects of the wrong type of praise. Every time someone tells me I'm smart, I doubt myself even more. I am very self-conscious about my grades and such because of this ridiculous reputation I feel I have to uphold. I make mistakes, dang it!

Anyway, if you find that kind of thing interesting, you should definitely read the article.

So it is Valentine's Day. Apparently also referred to as Horny Werewolf Day. And more commonly Singles Awareness Day.

I keep hearing people say they hate Valentine's Day because they hate being reminded they're single, it's a corrupted commercial holiday not about love at all, etc. Blah, blah blah. I like Valentine's Day. It's a holiday. Holidays are great excuses to dress up and have fun. Why should I care if I'm single or not? I got to pass out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards and make people laugh. That's fun. I got to wear themes shirts and such. That's fun. So why can't everyone just get over themselves and not take it all so seriously? It's so much more enjoyable that way.

1. My art teacher told me the score I got on my entry. The scale is 1-4, 1 being the lowest and 4 the highest. I got a 4. W00+!

2. I found these really funny fake news videos over the weekend-- Goodnight Burbank. Check it out.

3. I also found some funny videos on youtube. God, Inc. Definately worth watching.

4. Speaking of "God," it's a miracle! I'm off Caitlee's mom's hate list and have achieved #2 on her like list. I'm astounded.

5. Apparently the math test I signed up for is tomorrow. (Guess I got my dates mixed up.) How is that going to work out?

Whoa. Weird dream last night. I died. Crazy stuff happens in the afterlife.

Today was VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event). I entered a drawing, and for about the past week I've been thinking to myself, "What the hell have I done?" My entry wasn't that good and I really didn't feel comfortable with the idea of someone judging it. But I went anyway, and seeing other people's stuff did not help boost my confidence at all. I got there around 9:15, got the judging form, sat for about 10 min., and then went to one of the judging guys. He was really nice and complemented certain things about my picture and told me how I could do better. It was completely over by 9:45. It all seems so surreal now. It wasn't so bad after all.

And now I leave you with a quiz. I'm surprised I even did this well.

Now that the swimming season is over, there is the swimming banquet to look forward to. And boy am I anticipating this one. One phrase seems to summarize what I'm doing this year and that is "sticking it to The Man." It's so fun taunting Kalie over what I'm going to do. She thinks I'm going to wear a dress, but I'm actually going to wear a green tuxedo (hopefully). I do not tell her this. I tell her my outfit is a secret/surprise. I have a date to the dance. When telling her (and the other girls around me) that I had asked someone and "they" agreed, the girls wouldn't stop asking me who "he" was. I'm sorry, but Jessica doesn't have a Y chromosome. I do not tell Kalie this. I tell her my date is a secret/surprise. It's hilarious. I suspect they'll bug me about it until the banquet.

This weekend is the TAME competition. I'm pretty excited. Said date will also be there. w00+

Next weekend I have that art contest which I haven't finished the entry for. I hope Caitlee actually comes.
