Man, Coach D must have been on crack when he typed up the workout for Friday. For those of you who don't know, he was gone on Thursday and Friday, so Josh coached in his place. Of course, hardly anyone showed up for practice. I got a lane all to myself. ^_^ Anyway, the workout was insanely easy. Ten 100's kick on 2:00 WITH FINS. My gosh! But the best part of all: One 200 on 24 minutes. I kid you not. Maybe he meant 2 minutes and 40 seconds? That's hilarious.
My grandmother got here yesterday. She'll be staying here while my mom (who leaves in less than an hour) is in St. Louis for a meeting.
We watched Akeelah and the Bee last night. I thought it was a fabulous movie. (Of course, I'm the kinda nerd that will only watch ESPN if it's for the spelling bee.)
Not much else has been going on lately.
It's been a week since I visited Pharyngula, and since he posts multiple entries a day, I'm behind. Here's some thing I found a link to on PZ's site: *bounce* -_-; They just HAD to mention one of my favorite manga series of all time, didn't they?
Speaking of favorites, I still haven't gotten a chance to by My HiME disc 4 and Negima! volume 11. How sad.
Yesterday, at swimming, Allison (actually, I don't remember her name, but I think that's her name so that's what I'm gonna call her) volunteered to do the workout the Bell twins and Nathaniel were doing. Who in their right mind would do that? Anyway, at one point, when we were both at the wall, she said to me, "Lucky duck." I wanted to tell her- "Silly goose. It's your own fault."
Man, today was extremely boring. And I'm NEVER bored. I honestly haven't been this bored in many, many months. I woke up this morning wanting to do something NEW and EXCITING. But nothing new and exciting is going on. Not a lot of new and exciting things to do in Amarillo. (I want to go to a con so much!) The internet was down last night and until after dinner today. I was going to watch the last disc of Comic Party, but NO! The projector wasn't working either. To pass the time, I played a lot of sudoku.
During art yesterday, Caitlee and I had an interesting conversation. I realize I have some pretty strange views for this awful ultra-conservative, Bible belt wasteland. Personally, I think I'm just being realistic:
Scrapie's Thoughts on Sex and Marriage
I will not adopt children. I will never marry a man who already had children. I'm not being heartless, I just want children that are MY OWN. Let's face it- I'm a strange person. I also happen to be VERY much like my mother, so she understands me perfectly. I hope this happens with my kids someday, but if I ever adopted children that would not happen. It would make both of us miserable.
The divorce rate is huge. I have very high standards. You HAVE to be picky. If you settle for just okay, you'll end up unhappy and possibly get divorced. And so if it must be, I will accept being a single mother. Men are just like children- you have to cook for them and pick up after them. They won't help; my dad is evidence of that. They'd have to have something very special going for them for me to marry them. There is a chance I will never marry. To this, Caitlee said, "But then you won't be able to have kids."
Umm, yes I will. There IS such a thing as sex out of marriage. It's quite common in fact. All the abstinence stuff they teach you in school is stupid. You really think you're going to stop everyone from having until they get married? It's UNREALISTIC. Worth the Wait doesn't EDUCATE them. They have studies showing there was a lower rate of STDs with students who had a safe sex program compared to an abstinence program.
Now, of course, I would like to get married and have kids someday. But if it doesn't work out that way, I'll make due. Remember now- I am still very asexual at this point. Honestly, the thought of being with a guy disgusts me. They're fine as friends, but anything more is simply grotesque.
The End. I hope you enjoyed "Scrapie's Thoughts on Sex and Marriage".
